I want to get an Hd Pvr but my laptop I believe doesn't have all the requirements...?

-I want to get an Hauppauge HD PVR 1212 and I have a Compaq presario CQ56 notebook.I heard that you need a heavy duty computer to playback your gameplays.So would I need a PC that fits the exact requirnments or does it not matter as long as your PC is fast?
