How to program directtv remote?

-i am trying to program my new remote for my direct tv. my original remote stopped working and they sent me a new one. the new remote will only adjust the volume. how do i get it to change the channel, go to the guide screen, etc..



also please don't say call customer service/ tech support. already tried that and they were no help.Hit menu, parental favs and setup, system setup, remote control. Good luck!
