Dish network dvr help?

-I have dish network at my house and we have two boxes. My problem is when we try to record or watch live tv. We have two boxes but the master box or box 1 when some one records it forces you to switch over on box 2. Is there a way to be able to keep the recordings on box one so it doesn't force box two to switch over and watch what is being recorded?I think you're confusing "box" with "tuner".

Dish's DVRs have 2 tuners inside 1 box. At our house we have 2 boxes - 1 in the living room, and 1 in the bedroom. The boxes are independent of each other and each has its own list of shows to record.

By default, "tuner 2" is used to record a program. If "tuner 2" is already recording something, "tuner 1" will then record.

However it doesn't matter which tuner does the recording - they both store the program on the same hard drive inside the same box. So shows recorded in the living room are only watchable in the living room. Yeah, it's possible to use an external hard drive to move programs but we haven't tried experimenting with this yet.
You need to change your "record plus" option to TV1. By default, it's set to TV2. To do this, go into the menu, go to "preferences", and then go to "record plus". Change the option there to TV1. This will make timers set on TV1 record on TV1 instead of on TV2 the way they do now. Hope this helps.
